Easy CD Creator
I was setting up my son's new computer, Pentium 4 with Windows 98. I tried loading CD Creator Platinum. It loaded, but told me there was no direct CD (or something like that) I then thought that I needed to Load an older version of CD creator that I knew had Direct CD on the disc also. This older version also loaded, but I was given the message:
"No supported CD-R / CD-RW drive" I then uninstalled the CD Creator . Then I installed "Nero 5.0" that came with the computer. It loaded oK, and as far as I can tell, is working properly. I know that NERO is probably preferred by most, but I was familar with CD Creator, and wanted to install that instead. If I deceide to try and load CD Creator in the future, does anyone know what I must do or try the next time ? Thanks, Mike

Hi mike12,
It sounds like you may have had the same error both times, especially if you got the boxed version. Many burners are not supported in the boxed version, but many have been added in updates and patches. HTH TwoRails |

If you update the Nero to 5.5.9.9 or newer - which you should be able to do free, it has a feature called "Nero Express" which is a wizard-driven interface that is every bit as user friendly as anything from Roxio.

I used to use EZ CD Creator also and I liked it a lot. But in the last year and a half it has become a very troublesome and poorly supported app in my opinion. I started using Nero in Oct 2001 and I'll never go back to Roxio.

Actually, I run both. I use Nero for all CD-R stuff, but I use Roxio (DirectCD) for the packet writing stuff. I don't know about the current version(s) of InCD, but early versions were not compatibile with my library of CD-RWs, so I use both. The Roxio Platinum Edition does have a lot of utilities that I use from time to time, like the Slide Show maker.

Never install EZ Cd Creator 5 on windows 2000. It's nothing but trouble in the long run. I've used EZ Cd Creator 4 (when it wasn't Roxio yet) under windows 2000 however way back in the day, and never had any problems. Regardless, I'm now also using Nero and won't go back to Roxio's products. HTH

mike12,
Like you, I had used EZCD Creator for a few years and was used to it. Got a new burner with Nero this weekend and Nero is better and faster by far. Just got to learn the new interface and if I can you can. Carl |

Thanks everyone for your replies. As expected, Nero was the choice of all. Guess I will leave Nero on my son's computer, and learn Nero myself to see what I was missing. Mike
