WordPerfect Problems

Using Corel Wordperfect 8 with Windows XP.

I keep ALL my files on my PC sorted on NAME order and when I look at them in XP by opening each folder this is the way they are listed.

In Worperfect up until recently when I clicked OPEN to open a file and it presented the files in the default folder these were also listed in NAME order but it has now stopped doing this and lists them now in date order. If I then go and look at the files in this same folder in XP rather than Wordperfect they are listed the way I want them in NAME order.

Have tried everything but cannot find a way to get WORDPERFECT to start listing them as it always did previously in NAME ORDER.

Any ideas anyone ?

Thank You.

Trevor

not sure if this is what your wanting this is for sorting by last name >Choose Tools, Sort. Choose First Word in a Line (or First Cell in a Table if you typed your list in a table), then click Edit. Choose the Type, Sort Order and Field options as you would normally, but in the Word text box, type -1. Click OK. WordPerfect will start the sort with the last word in the line, which is exactly what you need.

No this is not what I need. I know how to sort OK in WordPerfect.

I am talking about how Wordperfect lists all the files on the screen ie when I open Word Perfect and hit File OPen to open a particular file it lists all the files in my default directors one below the other with file size, date motified etc. These are now listed in date order with the oldest file at the top of the list. This only applies to Wordperfect. If you get XP to list the folders and files on my computer including those in the wordperfect Folder it lists them in alphabetical order of File name.

This is the way Wordperfect used to list them but for some reason while they are still stored this way on the hard drive Wordperfect now lists them in date order.

Try clicking on the name header in the WP open dialog box the same way you would in Explorer to resort by name. I believe WP 8's dialog works the same way as Explorer in this respect. Once you do this, it should remember.

Getting there but not 100%.

Right clicking on the NAME HEADER gives a list of fields that you can tick to be included on the screen.

Left clicking is a toggle, click one and it sorts on date order, click again and it sorts on alphabetic name order but lists in descending order ie names with Z at top of screen and those starting with A at bottom of list. How do I get it to list the other way round which it usded to do ?

Many Thanks.

If you click again on the name header, it should reverse the sort order.

This woks OK but DOES NOT save settings.

When you close out of WordPerfect and re-open files are still listed in date order.

I would suspect I clicked by mistake on the HEADER some months ago and somehow unknows to me changed the sort order to date but how do I now get it to save the setting back to sort on name order.

You might want to install Service Pack 7 and see if that fixes it. Note that if you don't have at least Service Pack 2 already (build 225 or higher) you will have to install SP2 first.
