video encoding
i recently purchased a leadtek tv tuner card, it came with boxed pvr software, winfast pvr. I have been experimenting with recording shows and different codecs and compressions and such, and im confused on one point. I'm trying to find a a good compression to use to save files or write them to cds and save, but the only codecs that give good results are mpeg2, encoding in mpeg4 results in the audio not staying in sync.
I guess my question is, is there a standalone program i can use to simply re-encode files to more manageable sizes? any ideas would be very much appreciated. thank you very much. george |

It'd be easier to fix your audio sync problem after you're done if the program produces sufficient results with MPEG4 codecs besides the audio problem.
VirtualDub can do this quite easily, by letting you put in a delay (either positive or negative) in milliseconds to correct audio and video sync. Simply select "direct stream copy" on your video options and put in your audio delay, then preview to make sure they line up, and save. http://www.virtualdub.org/ |

TMPGEnc from www.tmpgenc.net One of the best encoders out there, it is THE best encoders in the low budget level.
