I have a couple questions to ask about Microsfot Outlook.
1. Is there a way to make it sit in the systray without it being in your task bar? 2. Can you have it alert you when you have an email.. if not outlook is there another program that alerts you have an email without having to open the client. If you haven't noticed I dont want to check if I have an email, i just want to be notifed... any ideas??

I am not sure which version you are using but to alert you when you get an email, go to Tools/Options/Email Options/Display Notification when Email Arrives.

www.mailwasher.net sits in your systray and lets you know when you have mail. Can view and delete right off the server without opening Outlook.

Outlook will notify you of new email. Outlook 2002 will minimize to the tray and there are a few programs out there that will do the same for earlier versions of Outlook.
Out Tray is one that I use frequently. I'm not sure who actually puts it out, I originally purchased it but since I have seen it around for free. It works well with both Outlook and Outlook Express. |

I don't think Outlook Express will do it without the third party software I was talking about or something similar.
Outlook 2002 can be minimized to the tray by using the following tip from slipstick.com; To make Outlook 2002 go to the Windows system tray when you minimize it ... Make a backup of the Windows registry, then go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences Add a new DWORD value named "MinToTray" and give it a value of 1. |

Does that only work for Outlook *2002*?
Is there any danger in trying it out for Outlook 97 or Outlook 2000 do you think? Thanks, David. |

It only works for 2002. I have tried it on 2000 and it didn't work for me.
