Kazaa set up
Hi,
I recently installed Kazaa on a new PC, and am having a slight problem. My Hard drive consists of c and d drive. C is 10GB, whilst D is 70Gb. I have a C: drive, which is the operating system and other program files. DO I have to put Kazaa in the C: drive? I wanted 'my Shared Foler' to be in my d: drive. How am I meant to set it up? Hi i have kazaa and 2 hard drives - you can install it where ever you want - mine is on C(keeps thing easier to put it with other programs) and my shared file is on D.
The way i do it is - my kazaa download file is called kazaa stuff(D rive) - what ever is in this file is avaible to all other kazaa users to download from you(as long as you don't have (disable sharing ticked).. |

Make sure you keep your antivirus virus definitions really up to date. Kazaa and other file sharing setups are one of the major ways viruses are spread now.

Are you using the full version? If you are, I'd advise getting KazaaLite instead.

oops,
been a while... Yeah, I got kazaa 2. sumthing... But their is no ads or anything that come up.. Since I started on Kazaa, I havent seen any advs at all.. I also have AVG virus 6.0 (the free one) Oh yeah, sorted out the silly problem. found out I had connected the HDD cable the wrong way around! and the other drive hadnt been formatted yet, therefore couldnt hold any info.. with spyware, will it be found in the add/remove programs, or in program files? if neither, then where?!! Also, Can you lot recommend any other P2P software? Thanks for all the help, and also the advice....much appreciated.. Rgds Zinedene |

The newest version is Kazaalite v2.1.0 K++ but it sounds like it's the one you have.
As for spyware, download ad-aware 6 or spybot s+d, both great programs but I think spybot gives you more options so since I sometimes don't know what's safe to delete, I prefer ad-aware. Another great p2p program is eMule v0.26d, although it's a bit harder to use. Compared to Kazaalite it's a bit slower, but has great content. Check out Shareaza 1.8, probably the best Gnutella client. Btw, none of these contain any spy or adware. Dswissmiss |

if your into file sharing, ircs' the way to go... its better and faster than kazza...depends on what your wanting to share, too... if audio is all your sharing... Kazzas' prolly your best bet...if its movies go with irc.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses, and sorry 4 tha delay. Yeah, since I got broadband recently I dont mind sharing files and downloading etc. On a normal phone line it was just a joke.... I'll give those programs a try, and see what their like.. Hmmm, maybe its time to see what this 'irc' thing is. I am into my movies, so maybe its worth checking out. Oh yeah, I found out from my younger brother what kazaa it is. Its just the normal kazaa with some 'minor modifications' done to it. He's got this desktop icon that runs ontop of kazaa and doesnt allow any ads etc to appear. Oh yeah, it keeps your participation level full, or allows you to adjust it.. Anywayz , thanks for the help and all the info... Rgds Zinedene |

I would not use Kazaa full version. Use Kazaa Lite.

I would not use Kazaa period...they should change their name to Hacker heaven. What better place for hackers to do thier dirty deeds than a place where music files are exchanged among the unknowing.

maybe since your using Kazaa... try getting the latest Norton Anti-Virus..... BUT SCAN IT BEFORE YOU RUN IT, with your old Virus scan.... Norton has one of the payload viruses with it sometimes... so be careful.... and kazaalite = good kazaa 2.? = horrible spyware= )*&%#^&$!
Ok good luck Brassman101 Updated... for IRC to work you need PATIENCE.... stick to KazaaLite+Norton and you'll be very pleased Last edited by Brassman101; 03-17-2003 at 07:21 AM. |
