Go to www.irfanview.com and download the irfanview freebie. It lets you resize, resample, change formats and alot of other stuff. If you drew it in Paint and its saved as a bitmap, try doing a batch conversion in irfanview and change it to a jpeg; lots smaller.
edit: You beat me by a minute Dr. Z! Thought I was gonna be first on this one. Hey, are GIFs smaller than Jpegs? I always just changed 'em to jpegs.

Yes, juppy, gifs are smaller than jpegs.
Also note that in jpegs you can select the size:quality ratio. This you cannot do with a gif.

Gifs are not always smaller than jpg's. You can't generalize that.
It all depends on the quality of the result. |

JPEG files can be any number of colors upto 32-bit, whereas GIF files can only have a maximum of 256 colors. I think that is 'cos the format was specifically designed for exchange over the network, especially when bandwidth is low.

Changing a .jpeg/.jpg into .gif format involves loss of pixels as well as millions of colours. It is what is known as lossy compression.
If your image is a photograph, either digital or scanned, converting to a .gif will definitely involve a big loss in picture guality and unless you really know what you are doing the colours in the image will be awful. If you wish to maintain image quality, you would be much further ahead to reduce the size or if you have a graphics program you could increase the .jpg compression. Just keep in mind that when you compress in .jpg , large single colour areas will have what is know as, "artifact" or in english loss of sharpness and cleanliness. It really comes down to being a balancing act where you balance smaller size against loss of quality. When you reach the point where quality is as low as you are willing to let it go, you have reached the lowest size possible. Hope you find this helpful.
