Norton System Works?

I am new to computers, Just built my first one. I have been hearing that I should buy Norton system Works because it will help improve the performance of my PC, is this true? And is this program really worth it if I already have antivirus and a firewall. Also what does this program really do?
Any help would be much apprciated.
Thanks

Check out this thread , especially Morriswingate's reply. The only app I use that System Works has is Ghost.

Aside from messing up your computer and making it perform worse? It's a suite of utilities that are supposed to help maintain your computer, but Windows already has maintenance utilities that work fine (and they don't screw your system up).

Save your money or spend it on something else.

Cool

If you're the type that likes to reload, constantly tinker to get things to run right, build up your post count asking for help, then Norton Systemworks is the software for you.

If on the other hand you enjoy using your PC get a good AV (In this case Norton's isn't too bad for AV) and keep it updated. Also some type of firewall if you have a always on connection such as DSL or cable.

If you are using Windows XP the only Norton Program I would use is the Anti Virus and nothing else, except possibly Ghost (I prefer Drive Image). If you are running 98 or ME I would add Seed Disk to the installation as it beat the heck out of the included Windows Defragging program. But no way shape or form do you want Cleansweep, the Firewall, or Disk Doctor.
