Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help. My friend got a P.C. from his dad (HP) and is having alot of trouble with it so he wants to reformat to put everything back to original state and start over. Problem is he only has the Win98 update disk. Can he use it to reformat? If so what would be the easiest procedure? Any help? Thanks, lovesranch |

What is he going to put back on it? He cant use a upgrade cd without having the original full version to load on first. Go to a win 98 or 95 system and create a boot disk off of it, then start his pc with that disk in the floppy and run fdisk to reformat after deleting partitions. Or if the system is working good enough then make a boot disk off of it. He will still need a full version to install an os on it though.

It's best to use the HP restore CD to reload it.

Thanks guys,
So when you reformat, you loose the OS ? I don't think he has the restore cd from HP. I have a restore cd from my PC (emachine). Would he be able to use that to reinstall win98? |

When you reformat, you lose EVERYTHING. No, you cannot use an eMachine restore disk in a HP.
