I have a win98 laptop with the network card in and a patch cable running to my Xp network card and they arent seeing each other i ran the setup wizard and no luck
i know it is something stupid judt cant think right now Zaney123 |

If so, it may be a bad cable.

xp does note when i unhook the patch cable that a network connection is open,
doesnt the xp wizard set up all the ip stuff or do i need to do that |

what type of cable are you using? there are two setups one your computer to a hub, switch or something. two your laptop to your desktop. for the first one you need a straight-though cable for two you need a cross-over cable. you can try find computer but you need to see if tcp/ip is setup for your adapter

Are both computers in the same workgroup?
Do they have unique names? Are the same protocalls installed? Does one of them use dial-up for anything? |
