Talking can't delete file

I downloaded the Unreal Tournament game recently but the game won't start up.I get an error message saying to delete the UT2003.ini file but when I delete it ,it shows up in the recycle bin and when I try to start the game it reappears it the system files and the game won't start.I'm sure it's the right file.I've checked their web sight. When I right click on the file and click properties it shows the file type as a "configuation settings" file and the archive box is checked.I know there is a simple answer to this.Could use some help. Thanks

Only 1 other thing I would perhaps try is to delete it from recycle bin, then reboot PC then try to start game, but I bet that won't work either, really sounds like there is something wrong with that install of that game. Perhaps delete game, redownload and reinstall may be in order. I've never heard of a program telling you to delete a certain file in order for it to run..What about tech support of FAQ's on the website, I've found many times issues like your a directly addressed because it is a known problem!

Talking strange

I know it's strange but that's how it looks to me.Their FAQ's say nothing but I saw some threads on the game's forum explaining it and that's what the error message said to do.What I'd like to know is why the file won't delete. As far as downloading it again I can do that but the game worked on the first try and after installing a new sound card I get this error message.I also trans fered this file to my other machine over my network and it works fine on that machine.Like to know why after sending a file to the recycle bin it reappears again in the game files.I guess I'll try downloading a new file. Thanks for the response.

So your saying that the game works fine on your other PC, and you just installed new sound on the PC that the game doesn't work well on.. HMMMMM I remember having all kind of problems with my kids games on my first PC and after upgrading to win98, upgrading the processor, the memory, the video, and monitor, it turned out to be the el cheapo sound card that came with the PC. Put a 20$ soundblaster16 ISA card in there and fixxed all the games that wouldn't load. It almost does point to something specific to that one PC though doesn't it??

Talking

I put a new sound card in because the old one was causing lockups in games and playing mp3s.The new card seems to have solved all my problems except for this glitch in this one game. The machine is finally running great after two months of tinkering.I'll try renaming the file like cypher said .Nothing to lose now. Thanks

I think what is happening though is that a new file is created everytime you open this game up, but that the problem is sound or video on the problem PC, Most of the time with games it is sound or video hardware related or settings related to sound or video..

Talking hi

My internet connection has been down for two days so I haven't been able to respond.I renamed it and deleted the file and that seemed to work but it didn't help as far as starting up the game.I'll try downloading a new file. Thanks for the tip Rodney.I didn't know about that.I came across one more game that wouldn't start that was ok before.Might have something to do with the sound.I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks for the help.
