First of all make sure you update it to version 6. Then go to tools. And click on options. Make sure the checkmark is in the box next to go directly to my inbox. I did this and it made my outlook express start up a lot faster

Hi MARKBLACK,
I've noticed three things that will dramatically slow down OE: 1) Have it permentantly delete / remove all deleted emails on closing. I "fixed" a clients box one time that took about 6 1/2 minutes to open OE: he had almost 4,000 files in the Deleted directory! I deleted them all, and OE opened in a snap! 2) The same is true for your Inbox. If you want or need to keep a lot of emails, like I do, then make separate directories for each catagory. I have thousands of emails using 226 MB of drive space, but my files are in about 60+ directories (some of which have over a 1,000 emails). 3) It never hurts to have a faster machine! ![]() HTH TwoRails |
