What are your system specs? CPU, motherboard, amount and type of RAM, video card, etc...

What kind background applications do you have running on your system?

Do you have a NIC (on-board or separate card) that isn't hooked up to a network?

Do you have a lot of icons by the clock? Each icon represents a program that is running in background on your system.

What about a antivirus, trojan scanner or firewall...any of these installed and starting up with Windows on your system?

Everytime someone says they're getting slow boot up w/the A7N8X and are using WD HDs I ask this question: Do you have your HD jumper set to the Cable Select (CS) position? If its in the master position it can cause slow bootups.

Also, the a7n8x deluxe has two intergrated Nic cards. Have you installed drivers for both of them? If your only using one I'd just disable the other one until you need it. You can disable it in the bios. The one up top is the 3Com and the bottom one is the Nvidia. I had a slight slow down in boot time b/c I didn't have drivers installed for my 3Com Nic and had it on Auto in the bios. So the OS was trying to do something with it and couldn't, causing my boot time to slow a little.

Cool

I don't believe his problem is mobo or drive related. I'm hav'ing same problem (3-4 minute boot) and I have a Epox board and IBM drive.

Mine started when I kepm messing around with my video card and TV tuner card drivers trying to resolve another problem. Prior to that it booted in about 40 seconds.

i have it set to single (neutral position) 6&4 jumped

my nic cards are all loaded with drivers and i have 3Com turned off in bios and i'm using the Nvidia nforce mcp network controller one.

i do have another post going in this site "sorry"

i believe it's has something to do other than assus pc probe, because as i stated in my other post i removed pc probe and i still have a slow reboot

Set it to Cable Select (CS) and make sure your cable has the right connectors in the right places - blue to mobo, black to drive.

so far thanks to all for your help

i placed my hard drive to (cs) and rechecked my cables and their are hooked up right-blue to mobo, black to drive.

but still the same performance

you mean all you people that use this mobo with western digital hard drives etc. don't have the hang up after desk top appears?

i'm setting here wondering what i can check, but the problem is i don't have as much experience as most-of you people do so the help is appreciated

You can go to MS support http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...DisplayLang=en
and try Bootvis. It didn't help me but it may help you.

Do you have Firewire enabled? If you do try disabling it unless its being used. Just another Idea.
