I've done something stupid again!!!!
Ok, a little history. I listen to a lot of songs that people post as mp3s on different muscian sites. I have always used Musicmatch with great success. I click on whatever link there is and automatically my musicmatch starts downloading or playing the tune.
Recently, thinking I was streamlining my PC a little bit, I deleted the musicmatch icon that is at the lower right hand corner of my screen. I figured that I would still have the musicmatch program but it wouldn't have to load at startup. Don't really know if that's even the case but never the less, I deleted it. Ever since, when I click on any of the aforementioned mp3 links, I now get this error message........... ! Active X Viewer Not Installed The page you are about to view contains an embedded object of the following type Embedded object type Extension .mp3 MIME type audio/mpeg Your computer does not have an Active X viewer for this type of object. Do you want to download and install on Active X viewer automatically? . . . . Now, if I click "yes", what happens is my windows media player ends up playing the mp3. If I click no, then my quicktime ends up playing the mp3. I have already downloaded Musicmatch all over again, figuring that this would take care of the problem but it hasn't. Still the same thing going on. What have I done wrong and how do I get my Musicmatch to be the program that automatically plays the mp3 like it always had before? |

Open Musicmatch.
Options - Player - Settings - General Reassociate what you want in there. |

Glc,
I've given that a try and it hasn't helped. Actually MM is taking over for most things but some reason some of the links still ending up going to quicktime instead??? |

I personally hate quickTime. It seems to want to take over everything. You can try uninstalling QuickTime, reassociate the files in MM and then if you still want QuickTime, reinstall it and do a custom setup and tell it to leave the MP3's alone.

AZscary,
When I tried to uninstall Quicktime, I got this message..... Removing Quick Time system extensions can cause applications to malfuntion. Click Uninstall to remove the applications that came with Quicktime. Click Uninstall Everything to remove the system extensions as well, (not recommended). That second one sounds scary to me so I just clicked "Uninstall". The thing is, after I did that, if I go to my uninstall program again, Quicktime is still there and my original problem still exists. What would happen if I click on the "not recommended" "Uninstall Everything." |

All I can tell you is that when I uninstalled QuickTime, I got the same message and the same results. The second time I chose the scary option and nothing bad happened. I personally feel that if uninstalling software causes damage then the software should be considered a virus and the manufacturer responsible to pay for the damage.
