There maybe some potention for qamming in the future but all he is using this for now is web surfing and....just about it...something to keep him entertained...anything you guys think I should get rid of? Thanks for all the help

Re: Some questionable software

eBoard = supposedly a way for teachers to post classroom info, but I'm suspicious that this is something else
Efficiant Networks Speedstream DSL = his DSL modem
Eudora = Email software
eWare = supposedly customer management software, but again I'm suspicious
Support.com Web Conrols = remote helpdesk
PowerDesk4.0 = Mijenix/Ontrack utilities
One Touch Version 3.0 = Visioneer scanner
My Search Bar = SPYWARE, parasite
Intel(R) Audio/Video Compression/Decompression Software = audio and video codecs
Intel(R) Create and Share(TM) Software = comes with his Intel camera

*** is he doing with Kazaa? This may be the source of the suspicious stuff.

Sigh...Ran into some problems already, I went to delete that eBoard program, things go haywaire, end up with system freeze, so I have to do a power button turn off, and this is the error msg I get when I get her going again

Problem with shortcut

"The shortcut "CONTROLLER.LNK" refers toa location that is unavailable. The location could be on a HD on this computer, on a network, or on a different computer in your home network. Check to make sure the disk is inserted properly, or that you are cojnnected to the internet or home network and then try again."

So I assume when I deleted that eboard thing, I caused a conflict between it and another program that was using that file in the program, correct? How would I fix this?

If this is an eMachine, the "eboard" stuff is eMachine's multimedia keyboard manager. It is required if you use the extra keys.

So, if it is an eMachine, it sounds like even though eBoard is gone now, an entry for it remains in the startup list. First look in Start>Programs>Startup and see if there's a reference to it there. If so, just delete it.

If that doesn't work (or there's no entry), go into msconfig's startup tab and see if you can find an entry for eBoard or Controller or something similar and, if it's there, uncheck it.

Well, it is an eMachine. Sorry I forgot to mention that

Thats what I was thinking too though glc, cause this seems a lot like that issue I had with iexpIore.exe, it's trying to open something that isnt there, and last time the problem was in the regedit(I found the last reference to IexpIore.exe when I was doing that "Start menu trick" - Lucky me!)

Im gonna download that regcleaner, I didnt know about that one yet, thanks!

I have already ran Spybot S&D, deleted kazaa and got him lite, deleted all those other useless programs, and Im gonna get him 1 more stick of 128 so he has a full 256, also installed norton2003...HE DELETED 2002!?!?!? I had to yell at him for that one! but he knows better now

You should be able to find it in the startup group in the start menu or in the registry run keys somewhere.

Probably because the eMachine restore disk will just put all the "value added" crap right back on.

Isnt there a way to make your own personal restore disk, I was thinking of bringing my burner over to his house and hooking it up on his PC, Im pretty sure that "Make your own bootdisk" thing is on XP, but what about the emachine, cant I make a personal boot disk that just has certain things like the PowerDVD 4.0, and just the cetain things you wish too keep
