KODAK JPEG's Cannot see

I have a Kodak camera and the Easyshare software installed on a Pent 3 550. In MY PICTURES, where the default is, whenever I download pics, i can see them OK, but then if I access them at a later time, Some seem to dissappear. All I have is a white background with a red 'x' in the middle, but others are unaffected. It does not matter if the pics have been renamed or left alone. when I go to MY PICTURES to view them, I can see the JPEG icon, can click properties, and it shows it having xxxKBs, so I know the pic is there, but when I open it, it shows something loading, but just shows a white blank screen where the pic should be. Or, if I go back to EASYSHARE software and try and open them, When I select SHOW ALL PICTURES, I see some with the red 'x' and some are OK. I went to KODAKs help site, all I could get was something about going to Internet options and selecting 'Show JPEG images' in the advanced options. It was already checked, so I rechecked it anyway, and restarted, and still the same. My wife is getting real upset that her pics are dissappearing, and i can't seem to get them back, so things are not happy here!! Can somebody please tell me waht I may be doing wrong with this?i consider myself somewhat computer smart, but this one is stumping me bad..Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.!

Download and install Irfanview (free) and see if it can open them. IE is a pretty poor default jpeg viewer.

What OS are you using?

Have you scanned for viruses?

What about the temp folders, do you keep them cleaned out?

Irfanview is an excellent free photo editing program.
You can get it here:

Or you can go direct to the source - which is - are you ready for this? www.irfanview.com

I intentionally don't give direct links for stuff like this - I'm trying to get people to learn how to use a search engine.
