I don't trust ANY of the so-called download accelerators.

You can only cram so much info through a 56k modem connection. It's like trying to fill a swimming pool with a garden hose - the only way to fill the pool faster is get a bigger hose.

The only ones I have used are getright, gozilla and flashget. I currently use flashget, even though I am on cable. You can use it to manage downloads and download a bunch of files off a webpage without having to right click and save as for everything. When I had dialup I used to all the time, when I would find files I wanted I would schedule them to download from 2400 to 800 every day, there was no limit on the file size I could get, just give me a couple of days, or weeks if need be.
But as glc stated and I agree on this, is that these download accelerators don't do what they advertise, as you have a physical limitation that software cannot bypass, although tweeking of settings can help and this is exaclty what the accelerators do. The only time you wil get faster downloads is when you are downloading multiple files and each file tranfer is limited on the server end not your end, you can increase the number of file transfer so that you become the bottleneck, not the server. |

There are very few sites that limit the download bandwidth to less than a 56k modem can do.
