Is there a program i can download off the internet to check the speed my processor is running at, exactly. I have a 2.53gig pentium but it seems laggy. I think it might not be running at 2.53. I think that because on my games that only require like 1gig, the game will slow down. So I just want to make sure my processor is running at 100%.

it says I have a 2.53 pentium processor. It just seems that it is running no faster than my 1.6 gig on my laptop.

That is not the most likely cause of game slowdowns, more likely, vid card>drivers or settings> Memory settings, especially virtual mem settings, or other things running in the backround, and perhaps even sound card... Just a few other things to consider...

Post your complete system specs (make and model of everything), what OS you're running and any background applications that load up with Windows.

Download and run "wcpuid.exe" -- I believe it will tell you what the CPU is running at, as well as what it should run at.
It's a free download. HTH TwoRails |

my specs are
2.53gig p4 1024Mb Kingston memory ati 9500 pro sound blaster audigy sound card Thermaltake Xaser 3 case Windows XP Home edition 120gig Western Digital hard drive Lite-on 52x24x52 cd-rw D845PEBT2 Intel motherboard red cold-cathode light 7 standard thermaltake fans 420w silent pure power psu In my bios I put the video to use 128MB instead of 64MB. Should I switch it back? I know it's not because of lack of memory. When Windows loads up the ATI applications load and so do the Sound Blaster Audigy applications. |

There has been several good threads on the vid memory settings, ammo, and it seems that it's more for older, smaller cards than newer ones. Personally, I've never noticed a speed increase in jacking up to 128MB on my systems, though it doesn't hurt either.
Try setting it back and if things improve or even stay the same, then leave it at 64. TwoRails |

As I remember reading that setting for graphics "apreture" is just for the max available, it doesn't mean it's going to use that much. It will use basicaly what it needs...
