When I do my backups, I often have to deal with file names that are too long. Is there a program that checks for the length of file names and automatically shortens them? Often these longer file names are of components of a saved web-page, or files deep within several sub-folders.

Are you burning? Most every program I have used will at least truncate names. As for shortening them to make them sensible, you will have to do that yourself.
Unfortunately, if they are web pages and are linked together, you will have to fix them if you change names. One solution is compressing them in a single zip file. Respectfully, Demosthenes |
