Smile McAfee unable to load

im unable to load McAfee 6 virus software on a friends computer everytime it starts to load from cd autorun is say illegal operation and stops if i copy the files to h/d i can install it from there and scan h/d and finds nothing but it locks up when i restart the computer. All other software loads fine from cdrom only when trying to load virus scanners it comes up with this error. I have tried McAfee 4 & 6
anyone have any ideas (could there be a virus causing the problem) it seems to hang when scanning the memory
The computer p233 (yea i know its old but he likes it)

McAfee is a virus and is nothing but problems. Do your friend a favor and go to www.grisoft.com and get AVG Anti-Virus (it's free) and then remove everything that is McAfee from his computer. Do the same on yours, and never ever by another copy of that piece of junk again.

It's doing you a favor by refusing to install.

Norton's a pig on a 233 too.

If you think he has a virus, get it online and go to housecall.trendmicro.com for a free online scan. Get it cleaned up then put AVG on it.
