Stop winking at me!!!
|
Online Schooling is fun
Well guys, I'm in my 3rd day in University of Phoenix and I have to say, aside from some of the assignments this is kind of fun. I don't have to sit in a room for one day out of the week listening to someone jabber on for four hours worrying if I memorize all the correct information. With all the uncomfortable things taken away I find I am learning better because I am not required to memorize everything and have to sit to someone who is clearly boring to listen to this is quite enjoyable. Can't wait till this class is over so I can start taking my IT courses and get my bachelors in two years. I know, I am way ahead of myself but I'm anxious. I wish this was offered a long time ago.

Sounds pretty kewl, Iman74 ! Is it on "your own speed" basis, or do you still have a set "class" schedule to follow?

Well I need to post a minium of two posts a day into the newsgroups for atleast five out of seven days. Also, I need to keep up with the assignments. So in a way it's at your own pace but you do have deadlines.

Thanks! One day (when my work schedule smooths out...) I'd like to check into something like that...

I have a really small high school, so I'm taking a lot of my classes over Lotus Notes. They're not college classes, just normal high school ones that our school doesn't offer because of its size. It's actually pretty fun. No boring lectures to listen to, I just skim over the info and turn in the work. Works very well.

I think this is the wave of the future. I live in Columbus but will be teaching internet courses for Marshall U- I've never even been to the Marshall campus
. The students live throughout West Virginia. One advantage of internet classes is that you can do the work anytime you want- so work schedules do not interfere with scheduling a course. Another advantage I see, as Iman74 pointed out, is that all students need to post comments, etc. In the real classroom you often have a few students doing all the talking- while the shyer students who might have good thoughts never offer them. These semi-anonymous postings make that a non-issue Hey Cameroth- its not just small high schools. My son will be taking German next year over the internet (don't know if it is through Lotus Notes). (his school system has over 7,000 students). |
