Unhappy Hauppauge WinTV-pci PVR

I am operating Windows ME on a 1.4 athlon processor. I have loaded the above software and ALL up todate drivers.

When I turn the TV on the picture freezes (and my pc also) anywhere between after 5mins and 2 hours. However the audio is still there.

I have moved the hardware to several different slots, but still the problem occurs. I have adjusted Latency settings as indicated by Hauppauge and have exhausted their advice with no luck.

Anybody out there had/has a similar problem.

i had the usb version of that tuner. when i built a new pc with a abit board and that same 1.4 processor, i could never get it to work, had pretty much the same problems that you did. followed all the suggestions on their site and never could get it to work, apparently it has issues with via based boards and/or amd chips. next upgraded to an asus board with a p4 processor, tuner worked flawlessly.

never did solve the problem with the abit board and amd chip

With ACPI running the show, trying to get it on its own IRQ can be difficult, if even possible. One slot that is a definite no-no is PCI 1 (next to the AGP slot).
