Windows XP "EXTRAS"

There are a few things that I am wondering if I can "turn" off in windows XP

One thing has got to be the damn notice of a new program installed. I already know it is installed cause I just bloody well did it. Also now it is telling me something was installed when it wasnt.

Please help

Right click on your taskbar > properties > Start Menu > Customize > Advanced and it should be right on the top in the applet.

Run dxdiag and see how the video card is performing.
Get 3DMark (2001 or 2003) and run it.
Take a look in the "Gaming and Benchmarks" forum for comparison of 3DMark scores.
Repost the question about FPS in the Gaming forum, you'll get better ideas.

I have run 3d mark all too often. I use it obssesively as a staple of my computers performance.

My score is always around 6900 in 3dmark 2001

Looking at my specs in the above posting.. is it safe to say that this is a good score or should I be able to squeez more out.

For a Radeon 9000 that is prolly about right with the 3Dmark score. You could OC it and gain a little bit more though. I have taken a 8500 up to 10500 with 3Dmark01 SE

I cant seem to Oc it at all. I used the Rage3d tweak and for some reaosn if I move that card a single point up it crashes..

I dont understand why?

Grab some DDR2700 (or DDR3200) and then run the RAM Asynchronous to the CPU, and you'll see a noticable improvement.
I would think that 6900 is reasonable.
I only get around 5900 with a GF4 MX440 overclocked.
