okay first prob...

when i go to certain internet sites (ie www.gamespot.com) the pictures dont show up.

2nd prob...

when i go to certain sites i get a "virtual machine not installed" message and when i go to dl it microsoft doesnt have it.

and lastly...

quicktime doesnt work and the people at apple said it was a microsoft problem... it always says the files can be found... hmm.

i never had any of these problems before i formatted my hard drive about a month ago.

It may be the site. I'm having trouble connecting to it.

Well, for the first prob, have you checked in the Internet Options? Not sure how it is in XP, but on mine its under Tools>Internet Options. It's that box that has all the security settings and stuff under it. Click on the Advanced tab (if its still called that in XP) and look under the Multimedia section for a box that says "Show Pictures". See if that's checked. If not, check it.
For the virtual machine prob, yeah, MS had some sort of legal falling out about that so they don't have a download on their site anymore (at least not that I can find). You can try Sun Microsystem's Java Virtual Machine if you want. I've heard it does everything the MS version did and runs fine. You can get it HERE.

The Sun JM crashes IE 6 a lot, I have noticed.

Anyone with the same problem?

Well, maybe that's why during football season when I tried to use the NFL's official Gameday java screen it constantly froze on me. Is there another free VM to be had?

You've got a choice, either MS java, or Sun.
MS's version(s) are so full of bugs (and a lawsuit from Sun) that the Sun version works so much better, it's worth the download.
If you don't want to use Sun, but have already downloaded and installed it, you can go back to MS, by opening IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced.
Scroll down to Java (Sun), and take the tick mark out.
Just below that is Microsoft VM.
Put a tick mark in Java Console and JIT Compiler.
Restart.
If you've got a messed up java, go here: http://www.microsoft.com/java/default.htm
Get Sun java here: http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html

Nope. Only the Sun's JM is there.

No big deal though. Thanks anyway.
