dvd-r software not working > .DLL not found?!?!?

ok, so i used to use ulead dvd workshop, and sonic myDVD fine. but now i get similar messages when starting the program.

it started out when i opened dvd workshop i got this message:

Load MPEG vio Driver Error:

C:\program files....\ulead dvd workshop\Ulead.dat\DVDWS.ini

so i re-installed, and i get the same message

then i installed the myDVD that i got with my dru500 and it says:

Error starting program:

a required .DLL file, MPGCHECK.DLL, was not found

this leads me to believe something is wrong with my mpeg drivers? i'm not too sure. does anyone have any suggestions? maybe updating my video card driver? these programs used to work before, but it's been about a month since the last time i used them.

Try uninstalling them and reinstalling them prior to anything else. Could be that dll somehow got missing or corrupted.

i think he means before you try anything else. by reinstalling it, you will restore it back to it's original operating self (hopefully) and replace the dll that it says it can't find.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess that there is a conflict having two DVD burning programs installed at once. If they are anything like cd burning progs, the driver for the burner is specifically used by the program...if there are more than one, the required file for one might be replace by the other. I would try:
first, uninstalling both programs, and reboot.
then, install only one and see if it works.
if when you install the other you start having problems, I would think you need to choose which one you want to use.
