Photo editing software preference
Seems like every printer, scanner, and digital camera comes with some kind of photo editing software. Plus, the stores and web sellers offer a wide aray of photo software. What's the best/easiest/most reliable/non-crash prone you guys/gals have used?

PaintShop Pro, or Photosuite aka Adobe Photoshop.
Most of the others are poor imitations. Last edited by reboot; 05-06-2003 at 01:23 PM. |

I use Adobe Photoshop and Corel PhtoPaint on a daily basis. The learning curve is not too steep and both are proffesional quality programs. Like Jim mentioned there are a lot of spinoffs, I personally find everything you could need in both of these programs...but software is a lot like clothes, you should use what suits your own needs best.

I use Irfanview for quick, down and dirty editing - if I need more features, I use Paint Shop Pro.

In my opinion if you want something thats simple to use with quite a few features use Paint Shop Pro. If you want to go slightly more professional the go for Adobe Photoshop. Although I have yet to find a feature I use that is not in Photoshop and I think it is quite a bit easier to use.

I like Paint Shop Pro, gets many good reviews, and has more features than I'll ever use! Many reviews put it right up there with Photoshop, but is quite a bit cheaper. The New version (v8) is a winner.

Thanx for all the recommendations. Looks like PSP is the decided winner of the opion poll. I just visited their web site and much to my pleasant surprise, you can download a free evaluation program of Paint Shop Pro 8. I'm gonna give it a try and see how I like it. Always did like takin' a test drive!

I do memory quilts and I use Paint Shop Pro to edit and repair old photos all the time. I have tried every sample program bundled with the the scanners and cameras and although some of them have some cool easy techniques. I can do most anything with the PSP. It is pretty easy to learn too. I have Adobe's Photo Shop and the Adobe Illustrator and I just do not have the patience to learn it. I have found that I can do most anything with PSP that I could in the very pricy Adobe with a lot less steps.
