Open Control Panel
Open Add/Remove Programs
Open Add/Remove Windows Components
Uncheck Outlook Express and follow the prompts

i did that and it doesn't remove the files.i think they must be necessary for other programs therefore ms wont let you delete them.i tried to copy what they were but couldn't figure how to get them here.appreciate your help.

Outlook Exp shares some files with MS messenger, if you have this installed it may be part of the problem.

Also use the options in IE to remove OE as the default mail client.

i think i have removed all MS messenger files oe is not my default mail ,under ie options -programs,i have hotmail for email, outlook exp.for news group, internet call is net meetings, contact list is address book. the only one that has an option is email(hotmail or outlook express) MS messenger does not showup in search for files and folders.C:\Program Files\Outlook Express still wont delete.

Have you got Office xx installed? Could be that Outlook is stopping full removal of OE.

Is it causing a problem with the running of your PC?, if not I would just leave be, a pain that they will take up some space but in thesse days of Ultra GB drives does a few 100kb really matter?

claude-
if you are not using OE as default mail program, why do you find a need to remove it? do you feel it is causing conflict somewhere?

I understand, I like to keep things "clean" and not have too much that I don't use onboard. But because Outlook shares so many files with so many programs, it might be best just to disable it and leave it be....
best of luck
