mp3-->Audio CD problems...
Using Easy CD Creator to create Audio CDs from mp3s works most of the time, but every so often a track will be messed up, the most common culprit being digital-type noise, even if the original mp3 plays without a hitch on the PC.
I'm burning with Easy CD creator on a Memorex 40X burner and Imation discs at 4x. What I want to know is will I get generally better results converting the mp3s to WAVs or AIFFS first before burning? That seems to me to be the place where Easy CD Creator is letting me down. Dogwelder |

Maybe try converting to WAV with another program. I think essentially when you burn an Audio CD from MP3, EasyCD Creator is converting on the fly. Use MusicMatch or something to go to WAV, then burn the Audio CD to see if that helps.
Just a suggestion... |

Thanks guys. I've already got CDex, so I'll be using that, see if I get better results.

Cdex is a nice program. I actually use Nero as my burning software, and when creating an audio cd from mp3's, there's no need to convert them .wav's first as Nero does this. So far I haven't had any problems making audio cd's this way with Nero (using mp3's instead of doing the .wav conversion beforehand). HTH

EZ CD is supposed to do the conversion too.

Heh, it should read, "EZ CD is supposed to do the conversion too".
I gave up on EZCD after it incorrectly reports filesize, and then truncates a file during burning. A 17 track CD ends up with 16 good tracks and one about 3 seconds long. I find it's conversion not exactly reliable and MP3's that are fairly equal in volume, end up on the CD at all sorts of settings. Blow out the windows, or you can't hear it. Floppyman is correct. Nero has never given any of these problems, and no need to use CDEX to convert before burning. Nero also contains the wave editor, and can equalize the tracks before burning. |

Yep !!,
I would go with nero everytime to burn CD's from mp3, I have done nearly my whole album (those old black 12" disk things) collection using nero and not had a bad 'un yet.

Roxio makes a much better program than ezcd, called WinonCD. Not available in the states, but it does pale Nero's abilities to kindergarten capacity (and no mickey mouse gui). If you have a friend abroad, it's well worth getting. It does the conversions, but not on the fly, which is why ezcd is not very efficient.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the heads up. I have heard of Winoncd and that's it's a pretty good program. I'm going to Germany on vacation summer and just might pick up a copy to try it out. I know I won't use Roxio's EZCD Creator software anymore. I had EZCD Creator 5 installed on a win2k system and it messed it up to the point where I had to reinstall the OS. Nowadays all I use is Nero, but I think I'm going to check out Winocd too. |

Yes, I've had a lot of problems with ezcd too. I first had the v.3 installed, and when I tried to install v.5 (I thought it would just upgrade, and didn't uninstall the earlier version) it never fully installed. Even after a "clean install" of windows the program wouldn't work...(go figure!) so I had to reformat, just to be able to install and run it....
I've had no problems with WinonCD tho'.... good luck and enjoy your trip! |
