my friend just bought office xp but she has a win98 computer. after installing word, she began typing. while typing, a highlight goes over the text, and the highlight is black. it is as if she has highlighted the text to select it, but she hasn't. but the difference btw this and selecting is the fact that the text color does not change, so she cannot see what it is that she is typing. if she changes the text color, she still gets the black highlight, but she can see. it does not print this highlight tho, so i have no idea what it is. i wish i could explain this better. i will try to go over to her house tomorrow and get a screenshot. until then, if anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate the help.

It would be my guess that her XP version of office isn't working well because she's installed it on '98....
Try posting in the XP forum and see if she needs another version of office or needs to upgrade to xp to use what she has. There also may be a patch to make it run right under win98..... |

Office XP should run fine on 98, but installing anything as an upgrade can sometimes cause problems.
