going to format...backing up eudora emails?
How do I go about this? I noticed some are in .dat file format.
I just want to keep all my emails and folders in intact so that after the format, my email client appears the same as before. Keeping all my current emails in their perspective folders etc. thanks in advance Richard |

I guess I could just copy the entire directory and over write the new directory on the formatted computer as long as the file paths are the same correct?
Actually file paths probably wouldn't matter if I'm overwriting the directory. Regardless, it will be the same path in my case. Am I on the right path? |

Richard,
I use Eudora 3.0 and I just copy all files that "change" over to another directory then copy them back. I've done it many times.

Copy the whole directory structure over - then just reinstall over the top so Windows knows that it's there. If you are using CDR to do the backup and restore, make sure you remove the "read only" attributes from the directory and its children before you do the install.

Thanks, It was actually simple. Everything went well. I just copied the "inbox" from my CDR over to Eudora's folder. Unchecked the "read only" and closed explorer. Upon opening Eudora, it asked to rebuild it's data base.
Then it was all finished... Everything in it's place. Redid some filters etc. but all went well. Thanks everyone Richard |
