glc, I knew some one was gonna ask this Q..the instructor didnt specify.. I did some research and found the following way.. Im on ME right now..but it didnt work. maybe i need to restart..

To manually rename the Recycle Bin (all Windows except XP):

1-Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).

2-Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ CLSID\ {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (you can also select Find from the Edit menu, and search for "Recycle Bin.")

3-Double-click (Default), and type the new name.

4-Press OK and then close the Registry Editor.

5-Click on the desktop, and press F5 to refresh desktop
_____

For XP it says

Right click and Select Properties..

Can't you just right click it and choose rename? Or select it and press F2 and rename it. It's worked in every version of windows i've ever used.

Last time I edited the registry to rename the bin was with Win95 - what I used on this thing was Norton Antivirus Professional 2003, it installs the norton protected bin, and the property sheet for it lets you rename it.
