Whenever I play a song in WMP, I find that during the last 20 seconds or so of any song, my computer becomes phenominally slow, and then is fine after the next song starts up. Generally my computer is very fast (2.0 gHz, 512 MB). Is there a particular reason for this or anyway to fix it?

WMP9 has a built in buffer. It loads the data file (song or movie, whatever) into the buffer, and then plays.
If the buffer is full, the last bit of the datastream gets read from the hard drive instead of the buffer. It uses RAM for the buffer, so I would think that you have other applications taking up RAM, and there's not enough to buffer the whole clip. Open WMP, and go to View --> Options --> Advanced tab --> Change button. Play with the buffer settings, bigger, smaller...something should work. |
