mp3 problem

i convert all of my cds to mp3s on my computer, that way i have all of my cds all the time. i have like 3000 mp3's so far. but something started happening lately, they become corrupted some how. the songs are still titled the same, but contain other music in them, snippets of other songs, sometimes nothing at all. usually when this happens the id3v tag is lost, so i can see it in my winamp playlist. it really sucks, i need it to stop, what is happening! what do i do!
i am running winXP now, it started when i was running 98se. i use winamp3 now, but i was using winamp2 before and it happened. thanks!

I think it best to try playing them in another player first...just to check that it might your player's program files that are corrupt and not the mp3's.
I would be a lot easier and safer to install another player before you start investigating the files. It could be as simple as that. Man, I hope all that music isn't baked!!!

could be, but highly unlikely, flakey RAM or a flakey hard-drive.

I would try a different program.

BTW, you might want to look into a program called "MP3 tag tools". It is free, and will remove all non-id3 tags, and some other nifty features.

kind of wanted to bump this up, maybe someone else out there is experiencing the same problems as me, and now i am up to about 6000 mp3's and i just bought a mp3 cd player for my car, you have no idea how frustrating it is to make a cd and be listening to it in the car and then have one or two songs end up corrupted, it ruins the whole thing! arg!
