video capture
ok, I was a bit unsure if I should but this in video or software.
Anyways I got this very nice video capture card with FM turner. ok, here is the odd thing, If i use the turner program with the card the channels come up just like they do on my TV. Here is the problem, when I used the Ulead videostudio 6 the channels are wrong. my channel 41 is sci fi but on the Ulead it is 40. UPN is 98 on my TV but comes in on 04 in the ULead program. some channels are off by more then others but as far as I can tell they are all OFF. I had to turn my TV on find some channels and then scan in the Ulead until i found a matching channel. Anyone have an idea why this is?

Channel numbers aren't completely standardized between different types of cable systems and tuners. There's standard CATV, HRC, and ICC - at least that's what the different settings are on my TV. Maybe the Ulead software has a setting for that.

ok, i see what you are saying but not sure I totally understand it.
I agree it has to be the way the Ulead is reading the signal, also the Ulead only goes up to channel 99. My current cable is only up to channel 99, but my channel 98 comes in at channel 4. I haven't checked but I can only assume some channels are being lost in the Ulead problem, probably not a big deal since I don't even know what ones, but seems like is the cable company sends the signal out on a certain freq the card should read that freq and give it the right channel. but like you said maybe it is reading it on a different standard. |
