ive got this question in a self assessment that im finding hard to answer,so here it is,
A PATH of C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS exists on the computer. you type in the command CHECKIT and the file CHECKIT.TXT exists in the C:\WINDOWS directory. explain the steps the computer would go through to try and interpret this command and also what the final result would be.

It will look for an executable file in the C:\, C:\dos, and c:\windows directories, and finding none, will say file not found. A .txt file is not executable. If it were checkit.exe, .com, or .bat, it would run it.
