cant get vmware to work
ive been trying for a little while now to get VMware to work. i cant seem to get the os to install. im using winxp and i want to make a virtual win98 system with vmware. i have an os from hp that came with an older computer that i have and sont use. i was going to use that to install win98. i have disks and cds for it. i just found the disks and it is getting me further than i was with only the cds but i get to a blue screen that says its not the right cd. it works fine when installing it on my other computer so i know it is the correct cd. can anyone walk me through this? ive read the help file that comes with the program and i cant find any thing on this. can someone help?

Hmmm.. the only thing I can think of is that VMWare doesn't like the HP version of Windows... when I tried it, I booted from my OEM WinME (I think it was ME... would have to look back on that thread)... and loaded up no problems... same with Win2K... just used an OEM Win2K CD.

you know how when u start the virtual machine and it says vmway and it has a loading bar at the bottom that says press f2 to enter setup? if, with all the discs and floppies and all in the computer, i dont press f2 it goes on to i guess boot and it says this:
No bootable CD, floppy or hard disk was detected. To install an operating system, insert a bootable CD or floppy and restart the virtual machine by clicking the Reset button. if i hit f2 while its loading i get the same error, now. but before it started to read the floppy and install what is on it then it would say that the cd i have in is not the right one. im gunna reboot becouse its not doing the samething it was before. ill repost if its different. |
