image file error
i like to put games on my comp. and play them in a virtual drive. one of the games i have works when i install it from the cd but not from the image file. it gets to about 60% and i get an error for a file or something and this is the error:
error: Data error(cyclic redundancy check) does this mean that its not spinning fast enough or is it a type of copy protection doing this? just to let you know and reassure you that im not doing anything illegal.

Yes it could be a copy protection thing, but could be a damaged CD ROM copied from in the first place
It's not Medal of Honour Allied Assault by any chance is it? I was plagued by this problem with my (legit) shop bought copy and the disc was only very very slightly scratched HTH, Thanks, Jim |

well the disc works wich is why i was thinkin it was a copy protection but it is a really old game so i dont think thats an issue. it works fine from the origianal but the cd image isnt working right. ive never had a problem with this before. even games with really strong encryption can be played through a virtual cd. come to think of it i never tried to install from one of tyhose though. i wouldnt mind making a back up so that i dont mess up the origianal, but i wouldnt be able to install off that one either.
