Bin file
Hi, I downloaded a bin file from the sun web page, How can I burn it to cd to install the software, It is staroffice.

From what I hear, CDRWin is the best app out there for burning bins.
I wasn't aware that Sun was offering Star Office as a download any more, this is now commercial software. You can get the free open source OpenOffice (essentially the same thing) from www.openoffice.org and you can download an installable, the Windows distro is in a .zip and the Linux is in a tar.gz. |

I have tried with nero but it doesn´t recognize the file type in the selection list, the extention .bin doesn´t appear.

For nero to burn a bin file you either need to convert the bin file to an iso or change the file type from ***.nrg to all file types. Then you get a different window with a few options, I can't remember which one works (I vaguedly remember type II or raw option to work) but if you use a CDRW you can try a few uptill it works.

Open Nero, select File, burn image, change it to "all files", and click on your .bin.
You get a small option window, for Image type, and a few settings. Generally Data Mode 1 and block size 2352 works, if not 2048. |
