How do I combine / convert / decode these files ?

Hi

I need your help

This is probably a real dumb question and I expect some will delight in
abusing me for it but I've just downloaded several mp3 files with Grabit newsreader
and I have no idea how to use it.
When I click on an item all I get is a whole lot of unreadable text.

They are binary files, posted in multiple parts that have to be combined
and decoded into the files the way they were uploaded (usually mp3).

How do I combine / convert / decode these files ?

What kind of software should I use ?

Thanks in advance

Edgler

no questions are dumb, only not asking them....
what are the extensions of the files you mention?
the following link will identify them and might be of some help:
http://filext.com/
let us know how you make out.....

Hi
I copied this quote from the Grabit info page:
"Fast selecting, downloading and decoding of binary attachments
See a binary you want, select it and GrabIt does the rest! It will download and combine all parts and decode your binary to the location you specified."
so it sounds like Grabit will do all this for you...
have you checked the help files?

ok,
I have scoured the Grabit webpages, downloaded the program. I have found no support whatsoever for this program. I also found reviews that say the same thing, this program has no support. So, unless some one else has actually used this program and can offer some help, it looks like there isn't much available. there are no help files within the program either....
good luck, sorry I can't help you figure this out.
(this program was very unstable on my system, even after I uninstalled it IE showed signs of instablilty also. only after reboot did things return to normal. personally, I wouldn't use it)

If they are supposed to be MP3 files, just try renaming the extension back to .mp3 and see what happens.

Problem solved

it's encoded in MIME, which GrabIt is not programmed to decode

Forte Free Agent is an excellent free newsreader, it's compatible with all encoding except yEnc.
