Stored Registry
I was just wondering where the registry is stored. A friend wanted to find something in the registry on his other hard drive.

User.dat and system.dat, both are hidden files. He could just run regedit and search for what he wants on the other hard drive.

Did you go into folder options and check "show all files" ? They are in C:\windows.

What OS? Windows XP and 2000 are different.
Took this off of Annoyances.org In Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the Registry is stored in several Hives, located in the \windows\system32\config and \Documents and Settings\{username} folders. Last edited by Redo40; 06-02-2003 at 10:57 AM. |
