MusicMatch 8

Hey everyone. For some reason, Musicmatch clips during playback whenever I do something as simple as open an Explorer Window. I use WMP9 and Winamp, and neither of them clip even when I do system-intensive tasks. Normally I would mail the makers of MusicMatch with the problem, but they don't allow non-Plus users to send email. I think thats retarded since I sure as heck won't buy it if it works like crap.

I'm running WinXP 1ghz Duron w/ 380mb of RAM. Using a Sound Blaster 5.1 Live! with the latest drivers. I don't think its problem with my system, as WMP and Winamp (and the countless other media players ive tried) haven't acted up this way

I also get a runtime error when trying to shrink the window to the miniature version

How long have you had MM installed? If this is a new installation, I would first try uninstalling/reinstalling....making sure your AV software is shut off during reinstall.
I've used MusicMatch for years, still using a much earlier version...never had any problems with it.

I have 7.5 Plus - and won't be upgrading, I'd have to buy a new license.

I uninstalled 8.0 and grabbed 7.5 off the site. The main changes are in the GUI, which I greatly preferred in 8.0. Ah well. I'll use 7.5 until 8 advances a little.

Thanks

I upgraded the other day to 8.0 using my existing license. It automatically picked up my upgrade key.... painless!

I tried using my exsiting license and it wouldnt work. Kinda p*issed me off. I paid $19.99 for MusicMatch and then the extra $39.99 for upgrades. Sound fishy? So I take it I need to make a phone call or figure something out cause that to me is quite a rip-off...

Mine was actually a version of 6.x that came with an Iomega CD burner - it upgraded to 7.x free but won't go to 8.

Yeah. I hear 8 also has a new anti-piracy component. Even tho yours is valid, it might mistake it otherwise. What message do you get?

I learned why my sound was clipping... something to do with Y's Dock. I turned off the Application animation and it stopped. If only the mini-player worked I'd upgrade

*EDIT* Or not.... hmm.. this sucks

It just tells me that my version of Plus does not qualify for a free upgrade - and asks me if I want to install 8.0 Basic, go to the secure site to buy an upgrade, or quit. I quit and will be happy with 7.5 indefinitely.

I'd be happy with 7.5 if the blasted thing worked very well. I love its thorough Library... and its a good break from WMP, but im destined to return unless the clipping changes.
