Spies! How can I stop them at the door.

Is there a way to stop spy-ware from coming into my pc before it installs itself?I have Ad-aware but just wondering if there is something better, that stops them at the door.

Thanks

Sure, you can use Spybot-search & destroy. It has a function called immunize that allows you to block spyware. You can download it here: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1

Dont forget Ad-aware

Dont download anything unless your absolutly sure what it is. Try and stay away from unknown links, and questionable websites.

Spybot does a much better job than the new Ad-Aware.
Also somebody ran the new Ad-Aware version on one of the machines here at work and it screwed up some of the corporate mail clients. I have also read other problems with the newest version of adaware damaging file. In many cases spybot just puts the programs in a folder and renames them so they cannot work or in some cases replaces the spyware .dll with a dummy.
Also you might want to check out some of the excellant freeware internet security programs at the link below.

Sometimes you may download a SpyWare/AdWare Prog/App and this will bring garbage with it (Kazaa Media Desktop, Gator, Bonzi Buddy). Try to avoid those or find Spyware/ Adware Free alternatives (e.g. Kazaa Lite).
Hope That Helps,
-Joe

P.S. Window Washer is an excellent program, can't live with out it
