Went looking for a pop up stopper tonight....

Searched the threads and found Pop Up Stopper from Panicware came highly recommed by a few mech users...

Downloaded it, and once again the Mech has come through! Good program. Thanks guys.

pop up stopper is just a bandaid on the problem. Most pop ups are caused by programs installed on your computer. AKA Spyware, Adware.

You may want to look into using a program like spybot or ad aware 6.0
both are available for download at www.download.com

Have both Ad Aware and Spybot....very good programs.
Some sites (like The Weather Channel and Intellicast), throw those ads in the background and that's what was annoying me the most.

I agree with you though, byte, if you have a severe pop up problem there may be something else to blame.

Personally, I think Pop Up Stopper does an awesome job when on the net. I keep the icon hidden in the tray and have the notification as a fast flash on the pointer, no sound. The biggest offenders are the sports pages like NASCAR & ESPN. Also, a nice site to see if you have any spyware installed while checking you entire system health and performance is PC Pitstop. You can set up an account for fee or just one time test anonomously.

My brother used to get lots of pop ups...I mean ALL the time. I got Mozilla and told him to use and he loves it, he says he hardly ever gets a pop-up anymore

Im thinking of swtiching to mozy myself...
