Question imovie vs pinnacle 8.0?

I have been using piinacle 8.0 Now I just wanted to know if the imovie has the same capabilities as studio 8? What I mean is, the final product-could the imovie make the same clip as pinnacle?

Can imovie open video clips like pinnacle 8.0? the mpg2, mpg, avi.

Short answer ~ Yes (imovie 3.0 only).

imovie 2.0 was pretty bad feature wise, but 3.0 gained features from final cut pro and some neat features from skywalker studios. Plus it supports QT unlike pinnacle. imovie can open pretty much any format and encode pretty much any format, Divx, mpeg2, mpeg4, avi, quicktime (cd, streaming, progressive DL) etc... without need for any plugins or addons. The timeline is limited though, to 2 video and 9 audio tracks, but for most "home movies" it isn't too bad. All in all it is comparable to pinnacle 8, it supports more formats, and it's FREE.

edit.

I say free, but I guess you would have to buy a Mac !!!.

Yes, iMovie is only available for the Mac. I've used both the origional version and version 2 before I switched over to Premiere. Quite frankly, I was disappointed in the lack of features in iMovie2.

I agree, 2.0 was lacking. I also use Premier, which naturally is much better than iMovie.
