Question getting my feet wet.....

hi all, it is me again
a couple of questions i need answered
first..can anyone tell me of a good free backup program where i can backup on floppies and use those floppies to install that program to another computer ..or in other words i want to install windows 98 onto a computer that has 3.1 on it now..but i still want a good backup program anyway

and another way i would like to try is using my cd burner, can i just copy my windows 98 off of this computer and install it to the other and how do i do this???????

limited experience with computer but now have one i can BLOWUP as i learn more about them

i occasionally use my 3.1 pc to help remember how nice win98 is

as i am typing this i am using the backup program that came with win98 to backup that pc

i have two pc`s with win98 on them , this one and the other one i picked up for 20 bucks and i also have another pc that has win3.1 on it that i am trying to format and install win 98 on

i can do the formatting and already have win3.1 backed up for a clean install if i feel like it and for the practice so i refer back to my orignal question at this point

thanks to everyone for their help as i read this forum daily so i do not HAVE to come here when i do blow something up

Dick

first
you cannot back up a program and install it on another computer, it won't have all the install files on it.

second

make sure that the computers you want to install w98 on has more than 8 megs of ram.

also you must have the cd and the key to install 98, a backed up one will not work.

The install files are on the CD, not on the hard drive. You have to have the install media to install Windows unless you have ALL the cab files AND setup.exe from the \win9x directory on the CD.

I'd also bet that your "backup" of Win 3.1 won't install.

Finally, installing a copy of Windows on more than one computer at a time is a violation of licensing, and we can't support or discuss it on these forums.
