Boom Problems with Real Player

I've subscribed to Real Player so I can watch the live broadband streams of this year's Big Brother (before you all start, yeah I know it's sad) but I can't get it to run properly...

First problems were that I would be able to connect to the site and click on "stream A" for example, where I then get perfect sound but no picture at all - just the black screen with the Real Player logo, it's as if it's not even attempting to access the picture. And I have had a look at other things on Real PLayer such as movie trailers but it's just the same, sound but no picture. And all the help topics cover "I have picture but no sound" and not the other way round!

I have e-mailed their support centre and they keep offering suggestions but nothing is working. I also get problems with it crashing all the time....

... then the other day my hard drive completely died, so I have now put a new hard drive in, loaded win xp completely from fresh and thought I'd try real player again - but this time it crashed my whole system and would only allow me to start up in safe mode until I removed Real Player entirely!!!!

Is there something on my system that is causing conflict with Real Player perhaps? I can't see how playing the video can be a problem because I can play clips, films, music videos etc perfectly on my machine - it's just Real Player that seems to have the problem!!!!

Well their customer support really hasn't been much help at all... one of their e-mails actually told me simply to "keep trying"! Well, gee, that helps a lot!!!

So what is it you don't like about Real Player then?

Well I never thought realplayer ever played a good picture then when you first run it it would put an icon in your task bar (startcenter)

then today when I ran it it opened up and extra window (why)

I don't know just the whole overall realplayer thing just don't sit with me

Yeah it does that to me and that's when it tends to crash!
