Outlook Express Help

hey everyone,

my parents computer recently got very messed up, so they asked me to take a look at it. it was full of spyware, corrupted dll's... all kinds of stuff. it seemed like a big mess to have to clean up piece by piece, so i thought a fresh start was in order. so, i backed up their data and did a complete os reinstall and then tried to move all their stuff back. everything went smooth except for putting their e-mails back in outlook express. i guess they had v 5.5, windows 98 came with v 4, and they got updated for v 6 sp1. when i got file-import-messages, it only shows version 4 and 6 as an option. does anybody know another way to get around it?

Did you try the 6 option? It shouldn't have any problem with 5x settings.

Try both, and you have to import from a store directory, browse to where all the .dbx files are.

yea, i tried them both. neither of them would work. they'll import like 3 messages, but i know the mailbox had more than that, and the deleted items won't import at all.

i tracked down a computer here at work that had 5.5 on it... upgraded to 6.0, viola, messages moved in like a charm.
