I thought Win2K was the most stable out so far?

I like Win 98.2 because it's been out for so long that virtually everything works with it and all the little hardware / driver bugs have been worked out.

avx,
I'm told that W2K is very stable but not the best for gaming.
I think NK is right about XP especially for gaming.

XP. There is a very noticable difference between gaming on 98SE and gaming on XP.

Windows XP is the way to go. Win9x can be forgotten, unless you like to play DOS games.
Haven't had any stability issues with WinXP so far, it is a real good OS.

Another vote for XP. It is almost impossible to crash, and I don't have any compatbility problems.

Cool

I'm not a game but I would say XP for the simple reason that all future games will be written to take advantag of the capabilities of XP as opposed to WIN98.

Windows XP was designed for things like games. It will, of course, run games better than any other earlier version of the Windows OS. Some people, though, like to adjust and tweak this OS to their liking. If, for some reason, a game designed to run on Windows 9X won't run on Windows XP, there are ways to fix this. Windows XP is an all-round better choice than Windows 9x.

I go along with the rest...XP.
while 98 has been around longer, fixes are available, XP needs no fixes...very stable...and as RJ states-no stability issues.
