There is an option for XP to automatically restart on all errors found in the system properties under the advanced options > startup a recovery. Then check your event veiwer for anything that may coincide with the shut down or bluesceen errors.

Another cause can be a power supply going belly up.

With XP and this kinda shut down it could be memory error or driver confict, but I doubt it's a heat issue.

I don't see anything in the event log in the past few days to indicate a problem, but with the "restart on all errors" disabled now any time it has a problem you may get a BSOD and it should show some sort of error and this may help if finding the problem.

If you have 2 sticks of ram I would try running them one at a time for some time and see if you have any problems.

Make sure the RAM timing is correct in BIOS.

Swap in another stick of RAM.

DocMemory is OS independant. It works off of a boot floppy, it does not run from Windows. Just boot to the floppy and run it from there.

Did you swap out with the other stick?

You may need to run the long tests, as the memory might need to get a little hotter than the quick tests will do. When I run DocMemory, I do it for hours. You can let it run all night, or while you're out at the movies, etc..

Try looking for update drivers for your soundcard or reinstall the drivers that you have as this could be a driver issue and not ram at all.
