Need to wipe out hardrive
Ok,had new mother board and Proc.( 2.0 AMD) put in my sons PC.I told him not to touch it till I put anti-virusware on it.I came back home,of course he was on the net.He had already downloaded Diablo hacks and freeware.I ran virusscan he had tons of viruses. He also had tons of adware. The virus made his 20 GIG drive say it only had 5 gig left. The viruses are still there.I been going through his PC for days .I'm not doing it anymore.I want to wipe out and start over.So can someone give me directions to clear hardrive ,then reload XP.PLEASE,
Thanks |

All you need to do is to boot from the Windows XP CD-ROM and start setup. Somewhere at the beginning you will be asked to partition and format the hard drive, that's where you can do it.
Be sure you select full format rather than quick format. RJ

I ask two questions sorry
With installing Xp on my sisters new hardrive, she informed me she had tried to install XP with a burnt disk.It said files were missing.I'm taking my XP disk over there.I do the same, boot up with disk in,click full format and it will go over the partially installed XP,Right?Or will I have to do something about the partially installed XP?

You don't "click" full format, it is text based, you select with the arrow keys. Just try it and you'll see.
But when XP setup detects a partially installed XP it gives you the option to repair, which you can choose. RJ |

You are going to have problems using a "copy" of XP on more than one computer - there is the activation issue. XP requires either online or telephone activation, and it's one computer per serial.
