hi all
i was just wondering if these are the files i can delete off of my pc??? (see attached file) Dick this is in c:\windows\temp there are files i recognize in there but do not use or need

You can completely empty the folder, all files and subfolders, after a fresh reboot. I do it weekly.

you can delete these easiler by going on control panel, internet options and then delete files and then delete cookies also do offline content for cookies....

Two different temp folders, the one Scifiguy is talking about is the Windows temp and the one bell_kicks is mentioning is the temporary internet files. Just to clarify.

C:\Windows\Temp is just a folder that programs use to store Temprorary files during, for example, installation.
Other programs like like Web or Graphic Design programs will also store temp files in there for work in progress. However, as far as I know, if the file is actually in use, then Windows won't let you delete it at that time. But as glc has said, delete everything in it and the Temporary Internet Files folder on a regular basis. Always a good idea to clean it out before installing any new software. In that way, the debris in the folder will not conflict or affect the new temp files being created by the program installation. Most good programs will clean up the temp files during the installation process. However, there are many that don't. So we've got to manually clean them up. HTH |

thanks all
i have deleted everything in there now ... i had to ask to make sure it was ok to get rid of everything in that folder ...some files said they were in use but i could delete them after i closed it and went back in and some files were gone when i opened it again thanks for the help i now know what to do !!!! Dick |
